About My Regency Life

You can call me Madame C. I’m currently living a blessed life in Texas with my seafaring husband and sweet little girl, Mademoiselle Z.

I have a degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising and have worked in just about every industry possible (that’s what have a fashion degree is all about right? ha!). Currently I have the best job in the world being a Household Manager and Mistress at Huntwick Hall (what we lovingly and sillily call our home).

I became increasingly interested in historical costuming in 2008 after the movie “The Duchess” came out. My love for historical costume dramas was always there but that production really made me want to create! I quickly found a group to mingle with in costume while living in Dallas, Texas.

Slowly over the years my focus has shifted mainly to the period of 1795-1818ish. Jane Austen was always a favorite author of mine and I re-fell in with her stories after reading Persuasion for the first time in my life. This period’s silhouette also happens to be one of the easiest to travel in for the 21st century.

I was lucky enough to find a very creative husband who likes to costume just as much (well maybe not AS much) as I do. I’ve even roped my in mother in law, who loves to sew and go to events!

In 2014 I got a little crazy and started a group in Houston called The Houston Area Regency Society. We host various events throughout the year. My favorite type of event is a private evening card party in my home.

I hope to share my love of this time period and use this website as a general place to show my clothing and historic research. I not only love the fashion but also the everyday life in this period with specific interests in the English Regency, French Napoleonic Empire, and New Orleans Louisiana purchase time frame.
